Egnis

The egnis, or salamander, is the fundamental form of the fire elemental. Although the most reluctant of all the elementals to inhabit into a human host, most egnies can be easily persuaded to do a wielder's bidding. The ease of using these uncomplicated spirits makes fire magic a common choice of discipline for new wielders, but, like fire itself, an egnis is apt to turn upon its master. Runaway egnic reactions can wreak considerable damage and consume massive quantities of both spiritual energy and flamable materials. Fire adepts are careful to strictly limit both their familiars' fuel (spiritual and physical) and to stockpile the same fuel within easy reach in case of emergency.
